there are two totally distinct groups of catholics in the US: woke urban liberation theologists who like the pope and suburban pseudo-protestant millennarian fascists who hate the pope

    I have only ever met the latter. American Catholics are just slightly better than the protestants in that they have to at least acknowledge that the pope and the rest of the clergy tells them they are bad people.
