Reality is satire now, which is something fascism always does, as has been pointed out by people smarter than me on the topic, but is weird to see in real life.

I cannot tell whether he really said this, and it doesn’t even matter. I no longer care, because he’s said things at least this crazy and I can’t possibly think he’s more insane than I already do. You could tell me he got on stage and said they keep hay in the White House fireplaces to feed the llama they’ve hired to lick his balls clean in the morning, and I would not bat an eyelash.

It’s infuriating that far too many people are nodding along with him, but that’s what we’ve apparently become.

What really boggles the mind is, he isn't even savvy. He's literally an idiot. I can only imagine the damage if he was a competent fascist, but maybe that's what it took to find his people, idk. I just hope his stupidity helps in his undoing. We have a lot to rebuild and time is wasting.

    Hitler was an idiot, too.

Fascism does not require competence to be deadly, and imo, a massive disservice has been done by popular media over the years making Hitler out to be some sort of mastermind. If anything, fascism is more deadly in the hands of an insolent child.

Seriously, read that article and mentally switch ‘trump’ for ‘hitler’ and tell me how uncanny it is.

Also, trump is not actually in charge. This is a danger of thinking when he’s gone – which will be soon one way or another – the danger will be over. It won’t be. He’s a carnival barker, and the real danger will still be there, using the power he’s given them by rubber-stamp EOs. They (eta: Christian Nationalists) have dug in like ticks now.

Yeah , same pretty much. I mean I'm skeptical and would want proof but it's not even slightly out of his wheel house to say some shit like that.

I don’t even want proof anymore, because that’s a waste of my time. That’s what I mean. I can do far, far better things with my time than spending even a moment caring whether his inane comments have any truth.

They don’t, and I can spend that time opposing him in real ways other than even reading what he says online, which is already more of my attention than he deserves.

e: ooh, like right now, trying to get everyone who can voting in the midterms!
