I'm an old school Southern Democrat. I'm Progressive and extremely to the left of modern Democrats. I believe that everyone is entitled to a standard of living and that includes a home and a mode of transportation and a mode of communication and a way to provide for themselves. I hate how the New Southern vision was sabotaged by Reagan and the Republican Party. We could've had a more inclusive and diverse South. I'm from the Gulf Coast. When I was growing up the Gulf Coast was the last bastion of Southern Democratic dominance. Republicans have taken over our area and corrupted the minds of our people. Southern Democrats are often seen as a monolith but just like the overall Democratic Party it was a big tent. I believe we can revive the Progressive tradition in the South but it's going to take effort.
Instead of being mean or condescending, like some might be, I'm just going to tell you what other people haven't.
Hexbear is a lemmy instance for communists. Most of the users on the website support Marxism or some form of Anarchism-communism (Kropotkin, Emma Goldman, etc).
If you like Hexbear and you want to engage more with Hexbear, you should try to read about Marxism and/or some form of Anarchism-communism.
The link below "Friedrich Engels - Principles of Communism", is a very short read, an introduction to Marxism.

Some users may read your post and consider you to be right wing. I think if you somehow managed to land on hexbear, you're probably confused.
If you are an anti-communist, then Hexbear is probably not the instance for you, it's against Hexbear rules to be anti-communist. If you are open to learning about Communism, please just try your best to learn about Communism and follow Hexbear rules.
