Only if corporate says so and can afford them, otherwise, looks doubtful and probably doesn't have a huge number of use cases.

Run time is usually less than two hours, recharge time is usually more than an hour.... And if they run out of power in the field - congrats, you have an odd shaped 15 kg weight to carry home.

EDIT: And of course this article is promoting CES, and mentions Ukraine, who started the war with no equipment adb is smart enough to accept all offers of any.

    This is a very short-sighted take. This is just the first generation of this technology, it will be radically improved over time.

    What are your use cases?

    Rescue work.
    Mobility aids.

    ....and?

    Even then it will all hinge on battery improvements which are illusive so far. I hate to think what the lithium fires will look.

    I have no idea what your argument is here. The technology will be used where it makes sense to use it, where it provides value relative to cost. Cost and capability will improve as the technology matures. What are you saying the problem is?

    You're a techno-optimists making claims of certainty about the future based on your ideas. Fact is, it's not being used now for a reason. Such exoskeletons have been around for over 25 years, and have not come to fruition.

    Claiming they must, that it's certain, when they haven't is a faulty corporate logic, on par with "LLMs will be super intelligent one day" and "we're in the singularity all technology will keep becoming infinitely better"

    Battery density is ultimately a hard problem. Physics and science has limits. Expecting those to be traversed just because you have beliefs or really like a technology. Is foolish.

    There's literally hundreds of "next gen battery" claims each year that don't pan out. Go look how many times a salt-battery has been attempted. Some problems are more difficult than infinite growth techno-optimists realise.

    Gee I wonder why the loader from Aliens doesn't exist, but we keep building forklifts! Hmmm... Why does grandma not have robot legs, but she needs an electric elevator to go up stairs? Gee I wonder if there's a reason for any of this!

    I didn't say they don't exist. I said lifts/elevators and forklifts are chosen over them consistently and with good reason.

    You don't have to strap in, and they don't run out of power.

    P.S Good job at advertising your technologies though, your optimism continues. You're a real funny guy for being so persistent and loving this tech so much. It's unbelievable how faithful you're being (rather than listening).

    Jesus christ, you need to touch grass, your online bubble is rotting your brain. You think you know anything about me based on a throwaway comment about some random technology?

    Fact is, it’s not being used now for a reason. Such exoskeletons have been around for over 25 years, and have not come to fruition.

    This whole article is literally about the range of areas this tech is currently being used in, commercially and domestically, and how fast the industry is growing.

    Battery density is ultimately a hard problem. Physics and science has limits. Expecting those to be traversed just because you have beliefs or really like a technology. Is foolish.

    Battery technology has been steadily improving for years and there's plenty of legitimate paths of research for the forseeable future.

    You know what I really like: MechWarrior.

    I'd love to see giant robots fight rather than boring old tanks and drones....

    ...we could make giant robots, and there's been prototypes.

    So why don't I argue that MechWarriors are just around the corner? That we're about to enter the age of MechWarriors? Leaving those cheap, simple, easy to make alternatives behind?

    Why aren't I more optimistic about giant complex robots that are hard to get in and out of, and can run out of power faster???

    A throwaway comment you're clearly an ardent believer in hence all the subsequent discussions rather than just accepting that the technology is unpopular, and walking away (I assume, without having to strap into a walker). Techno-optimism is your faith, so you are repeatly fighting for it (whilst telling others to touch grass).

    These technologies remain unpopular for good reasons. They're more complicated, harder to fix, and worse than current solutions... As I told you earlier, Capitalism isn't going to choose more expensive and harder to maintain/use technology.

    "Build a worse mouse trap" is not how the phrase goes.
