Seeing this post earlier made me reflect on & really appreciate something, that being: How I no longer relate to the feeling this meme is about - this "I'm wasting my life" feeling, that I would describe to be a very spiritual struggle in a sense.

And overcoming that feeling, that daily dread, is thanks to Marx, Engels, Lenin, Mao e.t.c / becoming a communist. It gives me some very real purpose and whenever I began to get that internal itch in my brain of, "fuck I'm doing nothing and wasting today", I put on a podcast like ProlesPod, RevLeft, The Sickle and Hammer, or get a theory audiobook going and that feeling almost always goes away.

As a sidenote - I'm sure some will see being into these kind of 'depressed young male loner memes' as cringy, and to clarify I am no longer into them much at all, but I used to find some connection to 'depressed young male loner memes' due to being a depressed lonely young man, go figure. In other words, I liked these memes because they were so relateable to me and how they helped me cope or be in touch with what I was suffering with better at that time of my life.

A few more things I want to add here, sorry if the grammar is a bit weird - I am hungover, and no to any anti-communists lurking who may read this and twist what I am saying, people do not become a communist to have a purpose or a way to existentially cope, that is like a bonus or a side effect perhaps of becoming one. I suppose this Disco Elysium dialogue puts it well:

(if you don't get it, one of your skills is basically trying to make you formally subscribe to being apocolyptic cop / a version of you who will regularly doom-preach, and here it is mentioning that you have been doing this doom-preaching a few times already, you then respond by questioning the reasoning behind why you have been, then your skill - which is also technically you / a part of your personality, a bit confusing I know - then argues it's not a cause or a thing you do AS a coping mechanism but also totally is one lol.)

I wanted to share this for a few reasons, to get this off my chest, because socialising is a good thing us humans do, and in the hopes this post will make someone who's down, feel better or inspire you to do what you need to do to feel better! It is worth the effort, believe me!

TLDR - I realised upon seeing this post on reddit the progress I have made mentally/spiritually/existentially, how I no longer struggle so much with dread over wasting my life, and that that is in no small part thanks to communism and the purpose that being a communist brings to your life.

Revolutionary optimism and trying to keep my life in order so that I can say I'm contributing as much to communism as I possibly can be has done orders more for my mental health and lifestyle than anything else. Years in therapy as a teenager gave me nothing but therapyspeak and self loathing; having a strong basis in theory and striving towards political actualization has made me friends, drawn me to fulfilling work and given me passion for learning skills and hobbies.

So I do absolutely agree, and have had similar thoughts to you. You can't say you truly want everyone else's lives to be better if you won't even do the work on your own.

(Note for above, I'm not dismissing therapy as generally beneficial, just that my experience was subpar and was not as helpful as empowering myself with theory/learning the true roots of my struggles)
