Problem is you could take guns away tomorrow and the police would never let the leash up. Cat's out of the bag. The police would never give up guns. And they certainly aren't going to stop hiring a certain type of personality to become police officers.

And even in places like South Korea where citizens can't own guns the police still carry guns and are known to have police brutality issues.

There is a cop mentality problem no matter what.

But I do agree with the fact that thinking every backpack, pocket or center console could have a gun makes for a certain type of policing to respond to that. You're right about that. (The kevlar vest saying Mental Health Worker sent me btw)

I just don't know how you solve that at this point though because where I live guns are everywhere. everywhere so even if you outlaw them tomorrow all that's going to happen is you have a can of instant coffee or whatever to defend yourself and your family with and you get shot and killed by the criminal who will still have an easy to obtain gun.

There's right around 500 million guns in the USA and many of them aren't registered. Lots of States don't even require you to register them at all "constitutional carry" and whatnot.

In 2017 when the USA only had 393 million firearms that was known to be 46% of the entire world's civilian owned guns at the time. (Now much much higher)

They can't even control the drugs. USA has one of the most insane brutal policing forces they use in the "war on drugs" and drug usage still goes up year over year even after you take into account deaths from overdoses.

That same government is supposed to take care of the gun problem? It will create a scenario where every single criminal who wants a gun will have one but you won't have one or legally be allowed to use one.
