They’ve really slowed down on releases of mainline Mario games. Suppose that’s a result of them flooding us with New Super Mario Bros games for a decade. We got Wonder 3 years ago, but it’s been like 9 years since Odyssey. Wonder when the next 3D installment will drop.

The team that made odyssey, made donkey Kong game, so presumably they'll be working on a Mario game now. But probably at least 2 years out, 3 seems more realistic.

Was it really that good? I was lightly considering it, but I've not really enjoyed any of the DK games in the past (except for DK Land 2 on the Game Boy for some reason).

Donkey Kong was worked on by the Odyssey team, I thought. That makes it the next Mario, essentially. There was also Bowser's Fury which is like 1/3 of a Mario game.

Nintendo used to have pretty clearly-defined separate teams: EAD, SPD, etc. Those seemed to have been ended and moved around (and physically moved to different buildings) around 2016. Seems like they have 11 internal groups EPD1-11 now. You'd think that'd maybe mean more games, but so far it has not.

    Handy summary I found.

    (EPD 8 made Bonanza)

Like, what have EPD10 been doin'?or EPD3 now that there hasn't been a main Zelda entry for awhile and the last ones were pretty small in scope (and I thought Grezzo worked on Echoes Of Wisdom anyway).
