There are tons of businesses near my work (next to a middle school and a high school) that have a posted no backpacks allowed rule on the door. Mostly because of shoplifting, and sometimes there is a pile of backpacks outside the door and a bunch of kids inside when school lets out. But there are probably many reasons they don't want to carry a backpack when they don't have to.
