The bully repeatedly bullied their neighbour and ally, who lost all trust and now seeks more reliable allies.

The bully is now upset and is trying to fix their relationship with their neighbour by bullying them some more.

    The proper response is to ignore Trump. A middle finger is just childish and that energy could be used for a more reasonable project like the euro replacing the dollar.

    There is one solid response when it comes to a bully, though. Ignore him, or even worse, appease him and he will double down on whatever delusion he's on. But you might be on to something, did any country ever ignored him so far? I doubt it'd work, but who knows, I'm not sure about anything anymore.
