Your experiences are not up for debate - it's not the same thing as your interpretation of someone else's words. You haven't experienced the correct interpretation of the words from original author - you've experienced a situation that you see in those words. Your interpretation is therefore that they're talking about the same situation as you were in and, what's more, that their perception of it is the same as yours. Because that interpretation goes beyond the actual words they used, and because the words they used really sound like they're saying something else, that makes it charitable.
