Instacart is a grocery delivery app. You shop from the app from one or more stores and a person goes out and shops on your behalf and delivers it to your door. You get updates as your shopper is picking your items.

You get updates as your shopper is picking your items.

    Who needs that?

People with mobility issues, no car and no Supermarkets within walking distance, a lot of disabled people, temporarily or otherwise, me while tending to a sick cat who needed fluids every two hours and has allergies to a couple of very common things, etc.

I could go on but I think my point has been made. It is pointless for me to buy 4 packs of tortillas if the brand of beans that doesn't trigger my IBS is unavailable.

No, I mean who needs to get updates as your shopper is picking your items? Isn't it enough to get the order?

Because they will often say something is unavailable when it absolutely is, or will substitute an item that's no way a legitimate substitution.

I've heard that women have a lot of trouble with getting correct period products.

And not to mention budget breaking substitutions, allergies, taste, lifestyle choices and such. Lots of things usually classified as lazy are originally borne out of accessibility needs.

It often is, but for instance, if they're out of the pills I use to be able to digest lactose, then buying milk and cheese is a waste for me, if they're out of tortillas then I can make chilli with mostly the same ingredients, but if they're out of the specific type of beans I need, then I have to rethink my whole purchase order, and stuff like that.
