[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago* (7 children) If I'm a monster for shopping on a Sunday, as someone recently told me, then what word do we use to describe people like this? Is it really just "bitch"? These are the real monsters in our midst, if you ask me. permalink fedilink source hideshow 14 child comments replies: [–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 child) I got complicated and nuanced feelings on the word “bitch,” and I don’t think Erika Kirk is a bitch. She doesn’t fit the category, the label of bitch. No, she’s an asocial heartless unfeeling conniving motherfucker who is literally incapable of feeling love, and there is no redeeming value to her continued existence whatsoever. Bitches try hard and do great works, but they’re not necessarily nice about it. Bitches move people, and Erika Kirk does not. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] qarbone@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 child) Are you defining "bitch" as "an aggresively proactive woman"? I think that's a deeply personal definition. For most everyone else, "bitch" is just an insult. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 1 point 3 days ago* It seems like they think that the phrase "bad bitch" is used far more than it actually is. If you haven't come across that phrase, it is generally complimentary, not derogatory permalink fedilink source parent [–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 10 points 4 days ago That comment link is a fucking blackpill permalink fedilink source parent [–] AgentSeven@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 days ago (1 child) What the hell. Some people prefer working on weekends for a whole host of reasons. Legislating days that a business can't do business is stupid and when it's a Sunday, it's almost always the religious morons who pushed for it. It's not coming from some altruistic give-people-more-time-off ideal. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] gramie@lemmy.ca 1 point 2 days ago And why not let Jews and Muslims shop on those days? "This bitch [is.../describing something she did" is definitely crude but is more using the word to emphasize incredulousness about the situation unless you know the speaking isn't familiar with this subculture of slang. I'm not saying there is no misogyny involved but it's wildly different from "What a bitch". HOWEVER, the moral outrage over whether this woman is mourning properly or loved her husband is wack as fuck and is an example of the attitude that allows polite, dignified politicians and leaders to do war crimes and still remain in favor. permalink fedilink source parent
