Isn’t that how it works though? You have the president, and then multiple vice presidents with their own responsibilities? Vice president of lending, vice president of marketing, etc?

    Yes, but banks go the extreme and hand out the title like candy. It's way easier to become a VP at a bank than other companies.

    Do banks even give out candy anymore? It's a sad day when the only Dum-Dums at the company are wearing suits.

    Most just in the US. When I worked at an American company, even some tech support folks were given Vice President titles because it apparently makes customers happy to be talking to a VP.

    I'm pretty sure at BofA, it's not that high level

    A manager manages a small team, a director manages several managers, and then a vice president manages directors. They usually have ~100 people under them, but it can vary widely
