Also, random shower thought... since they charge the same for whole milk as they do for semi or fully skimmed, why aren't people just buying whole milk and watering it down?

    I mean skim has a lower fat content, presumably watering down whole milk will also dilute the non-fat parts of the milk like proteins, vitamins, and minerals - affecting the taste and meaning you get less of those things vs buying the same post-dilution quantity of skim milk.

    They don't actually skim milk anymore. They haven't for years. They literally dilute milk with water at some part of the homogenisation process IIRC. Gonna have to go look it up now... 😂

    Edit: TIL, only some places do it that way. It is generally centrifugally separated and then fortified with fat soluble Vitamins removed during the process.
