As I'm sure most people would, I almost just hit Checkout but happened to see the text below. I am also sure I would have caught/removed it from the check-out page but maybe not. I did complete my order without 'package protection' but am sending an email and probably won't order again unless their response is acceptable.

Edit: I'll probably send the email after I get shipping confirmation :)

I appreciate your comment, but are you saying of the 2% lost packages they've all been for people that had coverage, therefore covered, or that UPS has covered all lost packages regardless of insurance?

If I order something and don't get it, you can be sure I'm not eating that cost. I will do a chargeback if it's not resolved appropriately.

Those 2% were covered by the 3rd party insurance, and I send out replacements right away instead of waiting for the insurance to do their thing.

Yep you're well within your right to do a chargeback and I'd probably have to eat the loss, but I'm not willing to ship a replacement in that case either. The insurance would ensure you get the product at the end.

I assume you have to have some recourse with them? I mean every carrier is gonna have problems, I seem to have way more issues having items shipped to me via FedEx.

But it's not like if I'm watching it (which just happened) and I can see it's sitting at some FedEx hub I'm gonna chargeback the company. After it's there a week or more I'll be reaching out to the "carrier" and the vendor to see what they can do to help start a trace or whatnot, but as I said at some point I'll cut my losses and if the vendor won't make it right I'll chargeback.

I think I've never had to do one honestly, so clearly generally things have gotten worked out for me, but I'm not adding package protection to my order.

If it's only $1.65 they should just eat that, or adjust their shipping costs. If the total shipping was $1.65 more I'd probably bitch, but pay and move on.

What they are doing will most likely prevent me from ordering again. I ordered for two reasons, I wanted more hot sauce but I want them to see how many times I've ordered from them which is multiple.

I want them to see this has negative results, not just some guy on the Internet sending hate mail after seeing this post.
