And honestly it doesn't make any difference for me - my carpets get just as dirty just as fast whether I take shoes off or not. I still take them off, but since I clean the carpets I know exactly how little difference it makes. It must be cultural then. I just cannot even think about how it would be so dirty wearing shoes in the house.
