The reason you like it is because of the anarchists, not in spite of it. Most anarchist theory has to do with ecology and anthropology.

There's a book called Seeing Like a State which goes into detail about this. States don't like nature, they want neat orderly things which are easy to plan from the top down.

Shame that solarpunk is dominated by anarchists. Seriously, all solarpunk fans I met were sympathetic to anarchism

I agree, it would be really cool to see Marxists better represented in the genre too.
