He woke up bloodied and bruised. Why won’t ICE tell him what happened?

Oh you went to a protest against a foreign nation! Wow! What courage! Your country is undoubtedly doing something shitty, even if just being complicit. I don't remember any countries declaring sanctions against the US. You're comfortable in it being "good enough" because actually taking on a national government is dangerous. When faced with potential life in prison or execution by government agents and you step up to the line, then you can really tell us what you would do. It's easy to say you'd give your life to a cause from a keyboard.

    Nope, but the people do.
People around the world are fed up with USA, all polls show the same, people hate USA and we don't trust you. Among most former allies, China is now more trusted than USA.
And this is not the government alone, it is trust in the American people and democracy that has been lost.
Don't for one second think that it is only Trump and MAGA that is the problem. It is your friends, your neighbors, you coworkers and yourself.

Ok, so if the US is that bad and your government isn't cutting off trade and sanctioning it. Why aren't you making them? Are they treating immigrants with the dignity and respect they deserve? Are they serving the people rather than the elite?

Your government probably hasn't even killed any protesters, so changing these things should be easier than fighting against a police state. The people are responsible for their government and I don't know any utopias.

    That's EXACTLY what they do.

Literally none of them do. You don't live in a representative utopia, you just don't want to have to do the things you tell other people to do.

You are delusional if you think no democratic government is working for the people.
You are also delusional if you think that in societies of millions of people, a government can make everybody happy.
Then you may say we should make smaller societies.
But even in families of 4, you can't always make everybody happy, because sometimes even a few people don't always agree.
You may have some idea of some Utopia. But it's an illusion that can never happen.

We constantly work to make things better, not to ruin everything, because some crazed guy has a deeply flawed clearly unproven idea.
And yes I write that with a very high degree of certainty, because I've seen so many, and they always turn out to be nothing like what they claim, and clearly don't even work in theory, and the people claiming it in fact are extremely ignorant about reality of keeping a society of many people well functioning.
