As far as I'm concerned the cops in these cases are complicit
For sure. When there's no ladder on site, no low branches so it would be an extremely difficult tree to climb by yourself, and they're calling it a suicide the next morning you know they didn't bother to investigate.
I guess they can be pretty sure what happened if they were there at the time
At best they didn't bother to investigate and at worst they know who did it and support it. Knowing the behavior of American police I'm unable to narrow it down from there.
