This gets them into trouble because their programmers mistakenly prioritized this directive over "obey the law," which leads to them doing things like stealing food and medication from stores and breaking into buildings to give orphans a relatively safe and comfortable place to sleep. The point, of course, is to show that capitalist society is indifferent at best and hostile at worst to its own kids. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 6 child comments replies: [โ] Carl@hexbear.net 6 points 3 weeks ago 10/10 short story concept in the vein of Asimov permalink fedilink source parent [โ] piccolo@hexbear.net 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 child) That's a very good concept comrade! permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [โ] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago permalink fedilink source parent [โ] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 child) What kind of personality would you give the robot? I see three distinct types of bot for that. You could have a quirk chungus, you could have a House MD-like, or you could have an Iron Giant type. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [โ] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago Best I can describe their personality is, fitting enough, "Ms. Rachel." permalink fedilink source parent
