A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else
Rules
- All posts must be showerthoughts
- The entire showerthought must be in the title
- No politics
- If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
- A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
- Posts must be original/unique
- Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

"Treason is the crime of betraying one's own country, typically by trying to overthrow the government or helping a hostile foreign enemy."
Ignoring all facts and common sense to elevate and empower a single man who behaves like a tyrant, abuses his powers, violates the Constitution, vilifies millions of Americans, and has made it clear he isn't a fan of democracy is a betrayal of the United States of America and its core values. That makes Donald Trump, every single Republican voter, and Republican member of Congress a traitor to the United States of America.
Reminder that Donald Trump instigated an attempt to violently overthrow the government and thousands of his followers took part.
If Donald Trump, the members of Congress who allow him free reign to do whatever he wants, and the citizens who voted for him AFTER he incited an insurrection and subsequently PARDONED the insurrectionists doesn't amount to treason, then the word itself should simply be erased from our vocabulary.
As I already said and you already replied to, "insurrection" is a better word to describe 1/6.
The last three paragraphs of your comment appear to just be virtue signaling, maybe because you assume I disagree with you.
How about insurrection AND treason?
It's not virtue signalling. It's explaining why Donald Trump, Republican congress members, and Republican voters are traitors and why traitor is an appropriate term for them. Whether you agreed or not is kind of beside the point.
Yeah but you see how you're making an argument for why we should call something a "bug" instead of a "spider?"
I like being specific. Yes, the broader term technically works. You don't have to convince me of that.
