Definitely risks of enshittification if it grows more popular. The open web is decentralised, but that managed to get taken over by shitty walled gardens, and it's possible similar things could happen. Or difficult to control spam like with email, where it becomes much harder to run independent/smaller hosts, and the larger players end up making the rules to suit themselves
