Bethesda games or more accurately TES and Fallout aren't on the level of Rockstar games, COD or sports games but since Oblivion/Fallout 3 they've been up there on the list of "4 games a non-gamer normie dad gets for his PlayStation/Xbox" where Final Fantasy has never been on that level of mass appeal in the West. It's just too niche, too anime and too Japanese which is why they tried making the newest one all dark and gritty
