An independent socialist and workers’ rights community.
This community represents my own vision of what a Socialist Workers Party should be. It stands in firm opposition to both the Democratic and Republican parties, which serve the capitalist system while offering the working class little more than temporary concessions.
Real liberation will require workers to organize, challenge exploitation, and build a system based on dignity, equality, and democratic control.
I agree with some positions expressed by the U.S. Socialist Workers Party, especially on workers’ rights, unions, labor struggles, and class politics. I also value some of The Militant’s labor coverage. That does not mean I support every position held by the party or publication, including their views on Israel, Palestine, or other political issues.
This is an independent Lemmy community, not an official branch, affiliate, or representative of the U.S. Socialist Workers Party.

Shouldn't be too surprising. As someone who works in the trades, even the limited amount of data center construction happening in my state is keeping us busy. I can only imagine how busy it is in Northern Virginia. Having said that, no one enjoys working on these things. The pace and scale of the projects are very demanding, and everyone has something to bitch about on any given day. Work is work, though. I hear that a lot of firms are struggling to find work in other states, so data centers may very well be a life raft for some unions.
