Become a huckster, as Lenin would call it. Import stuff and sell it on Craigslist. Only works if you have starting capital or know some people who travel outside the country a lot to get cheap shipping rates. Also sketchy.
Adjacent to this, you can scrounge junkyards to repair and resell appliances.
Offer services such as childcare, lawn mowing, cleaning, or auto repair. Stuff that working families can need.
In all cases, you do need to do some marketing and market research.
Yes, a good communications strategy would be essential.
