- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!

MODERATORS
People have surrendered their critical thinking skills. Truth is, AI disappearing overnight really would be disastrous, because a huge portion of humanity is utterly addicted to it and incompetent without it.
I'm perfectly okay with that outcome.

I mean I for one support hiring dumbasses. We're all dumbasses in some area, we've just got to help eachother out, so I help you in an area you're a dumbass about and then you help me bully HR or something.

I don't usually support "cull the weak" kinda mentalities... but cull the weak! Take away their AI and let the unemployed people who refuse to use AI take their jobs. I wanna see all these AI supporters go to the bottom of the barrel where they belong.

The AI bubble might pop, but just as the dotcom bubble didn't mean the end of the internet it won't mean the end of AI. LLMs (or whatever might supersede them) are here to stay.
I agree, but it will mean an end to highly subsidized LLM subscriptions and free access to any cloud LLM worth actually using for anything, which will make it much harder for the average person to rely on LLMs as much as this person.
Just chatting with an LLM uses so few tokens I don't really see that changing

Uh, that you sound like you have a metered subscription to some commercial LLM and you've thought about your usage. No need to be defensive. It's cool and trendy to pay someone to outsource your thinking and find new ways every day for your employer to need your intervention less.
I genuinely didn't get where you were trying to go with that question.
Honestly, I have very mixed feelings about LLMs. I don't think you're necessarily wrong, but I don't think refusing to use AI is going to help me or anyone else.
@ammonium @davidagain I mean, refusing to eat sewage is healthy for you and prevents you from giving diseases to others. Just like me refusing to use xitter or bikbok keeps my brain wrinkly and keeps my data / money out of the hands of billionaire scum (as much as possible).
You really can't go a minute without using gippity to look up anything you could have used kagi or ecosia for, thats going to give you the exact list of sites and forums that the llm (illegally) scraped and hallucinated ?
I can go months without AI just fine. Yes it does hallucinate, yes it can create slop, but that doesn't mean it's completely useless.
@ammonium its not useless, but its far more dangerous in every way than useful, and we would be far better off ridding the world of data centers (and billionaires)

I think most people were totally incompetent before AI. It's just that now they have a tool that creates bullshit for them and an excuse when problems arise.
Some of the requests that come into my office now it's like, I know the person barely even knows what they're asking for, but they put it in the shape of a valid request so now I've got to expend energy to educate them on how what they're asking for doesn't make sense.
If they'd just come to me with honest questions and a rough outline of what they wanted, I could've helped them, but because they insist on filtering everything through an LLM I've got to try to communicate through this thick, meaning-eroding medium. It's like trying to talk to someone through a mattress. Whatever happened to having the courage of your convictions. sigh
People have assumptions of what correct communication should be, and it generally has a minimum page length instead of minimum content amount.
The worst cases I've seen is when they're trying to convince someone of something verbally, they get the agreement very quickly, but get stuck in convince mode rather than moving on since it shouldn't be that easy.

Maybe. It may be recent enough that people could lapse back to some level of thinking for themselves.
Let's explore something much more dependent now and see if it holds up. What if smartphones disappeared? We still have cellular phones, the Nokia makes a comeback, but the use of smartphones, iPads, tablets, that whole concept is gone. You have to get on a computer to do any of the internet type interactions.
Would people lose their minds?
