Where did i give them permission to disappoint? Believing it will happen isn't the same as accepting it. Saying I have no faith or trust in them isn't giving them permission to do bad

It's one thing to talk about their past fecklessness, but another to say that you expect them to do it again, with presumably the same consequences - none. That gives them permission to do it again.

I'm not wasting time or effort on that. I'm letting them know NOW, that I am ferociously angry at their past failures, and they better not fuck it up again, OR ELSE!

If you want something different from the past, TELL THEM. Your statement lets them off the hook in advance, mine is a serious warning.

Or else what? What do you plan to do if they screw up again and why aren't you doing it NOW? why give them another chance? Because you have no means to actually do anything, you're like the mom saying you're going to count to three when you have no plan for consequences if they don't do as you ask. If you have the means to implement consequences, fucking do it.

Saying I believe they will fuck up with no consequences isn't giving permission, it's naking a prediction. I have no means to change what is going to happen. If I could punish them, I would
