And it appears exclusive to these two social media platforms.
For instance, it doesn't appear on Gab at all! Interaction after interaction with Linux users on Gab have been positive. -I'm not even minding my own business there, and they'll thumb up my replies (every single one of them).

I'm not pointing the finger at people or other subs here. -Yet, so many target here (reflecting the toxicity of Reddit) Is this the image you want?
Well, I even tried to make a go of a Linuxsucks community on Gab. It didn't work because it was unnecessary. Linux users were civil, and respectful there. They aren't trying to make Gab a Reddit clone (the users even fought the new more Reddit-like format and won).
Fwiw, it's the hostility that makes linuxsucks work here as on Reddit. On Gab (and other platforms), I can just reply to Linux users without being barraged with propaganda, lies, harassment, 'yes it is no it isn't' style argumentation, down-vote brigading, etc. Also, consider that I'm putting a lot of effort into drawing people from Reddit that have a different perspective than you. (The people suggesting this sub should be banned are saying 'Keep Lemmy an Echo Chamber').
This sub's purpose isn't to be an echo chamber, but a shelter. -A shelter from the kind of activity you see seemingly exclusive to Lemmy and Reddit. Lol, downvote, lies, repeating debunked propaganda isn't what 'free speech' is about. -And I welcome honest critique of the content here elsewhere on Lemmy.
-Thanks for reading!
