It’s the Finnish grid operator ending a contract that no longer makes financial sense.

More spesficially: They didn't renew the contract. Old agreement had expiration date and they just didn't negotiate a new one. So Fingrid didn't technically cut anything, they just shut down the connection when contract expired, as any other telco around the planet would've done.
