Without the ads, it looks clean, modern, and impressive. It's something to be proud of.

But this...this is depressing. It's just useless noise telling you what to buy. There's no hope in this. Only loss.

Why would you wonder that? Manhattan is huge, and 95% of it isn't Times Square.
