Trump was an amazing influence on China. He forced them to rely less on foreign forces and develop more of their own tech at a faster speed. In doing so, he also forced competition outside of China. The war on Ukraine then also brought the EU into the sovereignty mix.

Now that China is catching up, the EU and the US are forced to actually try and keep their lead in certain tech.

Now, if only China dropped Macroslop and other US big tech entirely to invest in Linux and RISCV.... If they released a real linux phone (not android) that didn't depend on the goofy store, it would kick start something amazing.

sadly, i don't think their strategy involves open sourcing phones right now, they seem to be moving in the opposite direction with them.

i'll take cheap not-price-fixed ram for now, with a hint of dreaming about a better future for technology.

It does look like OpenHarmony is slowly moving to becoming a general standard in China though which is at least some progress in the right direction https://pandaily.com/openharmony-six-year-transformation-jul2026

I knew China's love of Apple products would hurt me eventually
