If they want to block people for this, I say the more power to them. That's what the function is for, and they aren't forcing their choices on anyone else by doing so.

Yes you are right, what Patrick pulled off was absolutely fucked off, and I am deeply disappointed by them. But those meme posts feel like the posters were seeking validation by them for being put on the list, which I think is obnoxious.

My guess is that the regex is needed because you change your username regularly according to some defiined pattern.
