For this Special Thursday Cinema Night, first up is Theorem (1968), an Italian drama from renowned auteur Pier Paolo Pasolini, whose Gospel According to St. Matthew (1964) we previously watched. A bougie Italian household suddenly becomes the host for a mysterious handsome stranger (Terence Stamp) who quickly starts boinking each member of the household, one by one, inducing existential epiphanies in each one of them with the power of his magic dong. Who is this enigmatic Casanova? I guess we’ll have to find out. Despite the centrality of sex to the narrative, it isn’t particularly raunchy. This is one Pasolini’s best-known work, and considered a classic of 60s art cinema.

After that is Disclosure Day (2026), a sci-fi thriller from some guy named Steven Spielberg. A whistleblower (Josh O’Connor) goes on the run from the feds after stealing top-secret files about the US government’s alien cover-up; a meteorologist (Emily Blunt) decides to join him after beginning to use telepathy and speak in alien languages. Their goal is to broadcast the truth to the world about the aliens before the deep state can bump them off. Man, this is one 90s-ass premise, but it’s really popular on Letterbox, so let’s check it out.
