Conservatives never really liked Kirk, they just like using his death to score culture points and blame the left. His death matters way more to them than he ever did.
I wrote a comment that was much more verbose where I described my hunch that the right killed him and gave reasons why I thought that but I hit cancel instead of reply and I can't be bothered to write all that again so just envision I made some argument here.
