I think the problem with the framing here is forum habits. It was true on reddit and it's no less true on lemmy, looking for someone to be wrong and someone to be right is a shit way to have a discussion. It's either someone is bad and wrong for not knowing something or not exhibiting perfect empathy or some poster is bad and wrong for judging the first person differently than whoever is currently doing the judging.

Adding voting mechanisms to conversations seems to be a great way to get people to bicker rather than actually attempting to communicate in good faith. People don't seem to act this way in person or in voice mediums.
