And China's moat is the ecosystem that they are building around EVs. The mining and refining tech for lithium, battery tech, motors, drivers and manufacturing that will be impossible for any other country to replicate.

Not impossible, just expensive.

Easier to buy the products China already makes than to insource industry and control your own (marginally inferior) production chain.

The US is demolishing the tools to compete with China, entirely because the current leadership has an ideological aversion to "Woke" modern technologies. There's no reason the BRICS states would need to follow this path
