Please ignore the bad grammar and typos. This is a HUGE weird Dort crashout so buckle up kids I'm about to dump my incoherent tinfoil doomerism onto you:

Leftistm has gained a lot of positive ground over the last decade. Communism was not something anyone would seriously consider during our childhoods, and now it's enough of a threat for the word tankie to be a thing in online spaces. Sure, it's not much, but it's a lot more than what we had. I cannot stress how much leftism was just not a thing seriously considered in western spaces until around Trumps first term.

But I also think capitalist propaganda has been working very hard to challenge this, for a long time I think their go to was things like traditional media, Fox News and so on, which managed to radicalise a lot of mostly older people (I feel bad for leftist boomers, I really do. What it must have felt like to watch all your peers go down that road). But I think they were losing people who were moving to the internet and could not figure out how to manipulate the narrative there for a while.

I think at first they tried getting those older conservative people into online spaces. This is what happened to Facebook. It worked a little, but mostly made a lot of people leave Facebook or at least mock the conservative base for being out of touch and bigoted.

However I think it was an experiment the capitalist propaganda machine learnt from. The beginning of something very bad for us. Because I think that it was the testing ground for how algorithms could manipulate online demographics. The problem for the capitalist machine was getting it to work on anyone other than boomers. They love boomers (except those damn hippies but they got them out of the way long ago) but ultimately the machine sees people as disposable, and in their eyes boomers will need to be replaced eventually, they needed fresh meat.

So during Trumps first term they tried to reach Millennials and GenZ with YouTube. This is when the alt-right pipeline YouTube algorithm became a thing. You got your Ben Shapiro's and your Charlie Kirks and you blue hair liberal fail compilations (those fails would later evolve into cringe culture). It worked on some Millennials, but Millennials sort of tended to be a little spread out and leftist Millennials pushed back hard, if a nonconservative Millennial was shown something in an algorithm they didn't like they were more likely to leave for an online space that shared their beliefs. The ones the right-wing algorithms were hitting were probably already right-wing to begin with. It worked a little, but they are more likely to look for content they liked rather than consume whatever they were served. So you ended up with a sort of not quite conservative, not quite left population. However it was still managing to groom people, particularly younger people. But adults noticed YouTube's algorithms were getting weirdly in favor of right-wing propaganda.

And then the capitalist narrative machine hit a new problem when it came to the their youngest cattle. Short form video apps. They somehow let TikTok sneak up and get more popular with younger people than their more controlled alternatives. I don't think they expected the ACAB and pro-Palestine content shared there to get as much young eyes as they did, and Zoomers were now voting age. The machine was terrified that these Zoomers were going to become like those soft woke blue haired Millennials but even worse. Some of them did, and they hate that, queue the storm of hysteria over zoomers being lazy, having bad work eithic and too left. A familiar shame tactic that was once employed against Millennials.

This is why we got that big US Government stink about TikTok being Chinese owned. Don't forget the ridiculous court case they pulled. They tried banning it and it turned Zoomers against them so instead TikTok now has a new more western controlled ownership and guess whose algorithm is now getting more in line with the rest of the western internet? Zoomers, as a result of all of this are either extremely leftist from noticing all the obvious bullshit conservatives have tried to pull with their media, or extremely right-wing from all of that 2010s alt-right grooming from their youth and the new era of cringe culture that has stealthy changed their narritive from "liberals are bad and conservatives are the new punk rock" to shaming specific traits that our capitalist masters hate in their cattle and attributing these traits to safe outgroups. Instead of the blue haired liberal caricature, the target changes to generational warfare against the generation the machine sees as the exemplifying those blue haired liberal traits, Millennials. This works well, because generations are still seen as a safe target and because Millennials have been groomed to be self loathing enough to take it or be branded as perpetual victims if the don't. I often use abusive family dynamics to describe how our capitalist society has created and divided these arbitrary generations into roles. With Boomers being the toxic parent role, GenX being the neglected middle child, Millennials being the black sheep that is held up as an example of what not to be, brandished against the younger Zoomers as a threat. "Look as what we did to them, be good or you will end up like these failures. You don't want to be a cringe Millennial, do you?". Zoomers themselves are the member of the family that is constantly under pressure to not fail like everyone else did. To be strong and never slip up. To accept the terrible mess they were born into because it's unrealistic to expect better or they'll be humiliated like their older Millennial siblings. They are the fresh meat and I fear their high creative talent and intelligence is going to be milked for everything before they're regulated to cultural and economic gatekeepers, like Boomers but with less overall material wealth. I noticed the weird push to blame Zoomers for Trumps second term and declare them as right wing. Personally I think elections aren't democratic enough in the US for that to be the case even if Zoomers we're all right-wing (which they aren't) what I think is happening there is the media narrative conditioning the population into making that a reality by appealing to that human nature of going along with popular consensus "If being right-wing is normal, I should be more right-wing to fit in as a Zoomer."

You might laugh, but I really think this tactic has blindsided us and we would be foolish to ignore how powerful this online generational warfare is in grooming people to conform to right-wing ideals. You could say that Millennials were just as ignorant toward Boomers, but look at the traits being criticised here; the (admittedly at times ignorant) hate toward Boomers came after a decade of very real material abuse. What Millennials accused Boomers of was mostly the racism, misogyny, agism and financial abuse Boomers directed towards everyone else. Very valid criticisms that came only after a long time of abuse. But the criticisms towards Millennials? "Too wholesome. Bad at capitalism. Too soft to survive a eat or be eaten world. They didn't bootstrap enough. You won't be like that, you're one of the good ones. You'll be a good strong capitalist realist and survive." It's almost beat for beat the same narrative used by the right to cultivate sadism in its population by demonising softness and empathy. They are desperate to groom Zoomers into being a Boomer replacement, thankfully a lot of Zoomers are intelligent so it doesn't work on all of them, but it does work on a lot (it also works on the aforementioned self loathing Millennials to an extent). No one is immune to propaganda and the fear being the outgroup is one of the strongest human instincts built into us.

Couple this with a now completely controlled internet, the algorithms are perfected, AI has accelerated everything and the population has been neatly contained in their own little media bubble where information is served to them with little curiosity or means to explore outside that bubble. All of it curated to direct consumption of invented social norms. It's the same old capitalism, but faster and more controlled than ever. You might roll your eyes are say that this is only an online thing, but I think that is ignorant of the fact that this is where people get all of their information from now and it is completely controlled by capital interests more than ever. This is how you end up with a population that has no idea of anything outside of the reality thise capitalist interests feed them. Information is becoming like it was like in the past again completely in service to capitalist propaganda and misinformation, but even worse this time because now our owners have mastered the technology. You want to know why the red scare in the 50s was so easy? Why Boomers were so easily manipulated by Fox New? Why people used to think smoking was good for your health and that pesticides and a lawn of perfect grass doused in environmentally devastating chemicals were just dandy? This is why.

That short window of free information is over. We are already regressing any small ground we got and it's extremely terrifying and noticeable if you are from any group our fascist masters want gone. Old ablest and homophobic slurs we thought we had killed are making a comeback. Autistic and Trans people are being put on lists. Medical treatment is getting even harder to access for the types of people conservative groups find undesirable and the poor are once again are seeing even more abuse. Privacy is dead and everything and everyone is under capitalist surveillance and it is completely normalised. We all own less and less and only work more and more. All of it is enabled by a flood of media content designed to glorify trends of consumption hauls and demonize the losers that don't hustle.

This is the nature of our culture now, you can't ignore that this is how the world communicates in 2026 and that physically organising, while very good and worth doing for the material improvements it makes to some people lives, isn't enough anymore I think. How do you safely organise a population that won't refuses to even use a safer communication method than Whatsapp? We need to do more. There needs to be some pushback against this machine of misinformation and poisoning of the populations world knowledge. Of never ending cycle of ignorance and division that becomes harder to break as we become more atromised and closed off from reality. But what can we even do? Is there any way to fight this? Are we doomed to just wait for the dystopia to naturally eat itself from climate change, economic instability and incompetence brought on from a delusional worldviews?

Is everything over? Is there really nothing we can do to fight this?

Also I know we have a couple Zoomers here so to them I say please correct me if I've been ignorant in my generalisations, and that I'd be grateful for your perspective because I am very interested to hear it.

Perhaps you take it for granted but this is a real skill. If like myself you lacked it then you would appreciate how valuable it really is.
