I find that wheneverliberals try to make societal commentary they always resort to comparisons with dystopian fiction. Cyberpunk and 1984 some of the main ones brought up. It's probably a lack of material analysis, not knowing thr intention of the bourgeoisie and assuming that thr current situation is simply a result of greed and human nature. An utterly pathetic example from my country is from the municipal elections last year. The one even slifhtly left wing party, who's representative was running for the mayoral position of the center municipality of the capital (it's a bit of a convoluted hierarchical division of the country, wih cities and minicipalities being different categories, but also not) said during a interview (verbatim) "This is like 1984 by George Orwell", whe asked about the current state of things in the country. Mind you, this same party claims to be ML, but is mostly known for light criticism of the two main parties, aswell as the head of the party laundering money (fork found in kitchen,where I'm from).
