I got some domain names to register and every place Im looking at is asking me to upload a photo id because I live in a dystopian hellscape.... Anyway, I figured I'd ask around here and the selfhosted communities for some recommendations on privacy respecting registrars. I appreciate yall!

EDIT: Thanks friends, I ended up going with njalla. I really appreciate the suggestions. Stay safe out there.

If your only privacy concern is not uploading an ID, I’d recommend Cloudflare for the low cost and great platform. You don’t have to use your real name when signing up and can use a virtual card or something to pay.

If you need more anonymity, then I’d go Njalla - but note the other comment here explaining that they truly own the domain instead of you. However, I used them for years and never had an issue.

Depends what you’re using the domain for and how much privacy you need.
