'What would it mean for an universe to end?' Obadiah pondered. 'And would it be instantaneous? If it was, i would not even notice the effect.' he continued his thoughts. 'How could speaking on sentence cause the end of everything." Obadiah heard of the butterfly effect. How small things can spiral out of control. He wondered if a higher civilization - some unknown aliens with the ability to destroy the universe - are watching him. Waiting to pull the trigger as soon as they hear the phrase. 'Why in the name of what is holy would they do that? Neither destroying the universe nor making it dependent on some phrase seems to be a reasonable thing to do.'

Obadiah tried to real in his thoughts. 'The infinitely more likely explanation is that this is all bullshit.' He reminded himself for what feels like the thousands time. Obediah had an epiphany this morning. Which surprised him as he was neither on drugs nor dying from starvation, which, as far as he was aware, were the main triggers for these kinds of hallucinations. 'Just an intrusive thought.' he emphasized again. 'The brain is a machine and prone to producing some garbage, that just needs to be ignored. Like thinking about jumping off a cliff when you are walking to close or about putting your hands in a pie because it looks immaculate. The brain probably just creates these thoughts so that it can visualize how terrible an idea it would be. This was no different.' He thought for a second when he woke up that the universe would end if he said a specific sentence. Obadiah was not worried that he had gone crazy just because he had one silly idea in the morning. But he was worried how much thought he was giving it. 'It is ludicrous,' He again reminded himself. 'to ponder so intensely about something so stupid.' His main problem was - that much he needed to admit - how easy he could disprove this and go on with his life. He would say the sentence, the universe would obviously not end, and that would be that. 'Of course, mathematically speaking, it is an interesting conundrum. The chance of it working is zero. The risk if it were working is infinite. Multiplying both can result in nearly anything.' He was again very unhappy with this. Obviously, he was too deep in it to just ignore it. Also, he would feel ridiculous. Like he was scared of saying it, even though he knew nothing would happen. 'No. Let us be done with it' he finally decided.

Obediah stood up from his chair to physically distance himself from his thoughts. He went to the mirror in the next room over and loudly said. "I, Obediah Dickinson, in full possession of my mental capacity and aware of the actions i am taking, will this universe to end."

Then what happened?

I do like the implication that you stopped writing and that universe truly did end in a littoral sense.

That story is over and nothing remains but the memory of it
