Nothing is ever completely unforgivable (emphasis on the "completely"), literal Hitler aside.

If someone murders their spouse in a fit of rage and not only shows intense remorse for their crimes but also dedicates their life to helping others at tremendous cost to themselves, I'd be able to forgive them.

But would you let them be in charge of a facility meant to help domestic abuse victims?

That's the point being made here. Even if you can forgive a war criminal, they shouldn't be allowed to hold a public position of power that let's them influence the wars, invasions, and conquests of the US empire.
