Currently I run Musicbee on windows and really like it, but there's no native Linux support and I'd like to try something native rather than figure out how to use Wine. Tried a few different programs but nothing's hitting and I figure I'd ask here rather than just keep installing stuff blindly.

Features I'm looking for:

  • Automatic and manual RSS, configurable on a per-feed basis
  • Manual playlists that can include episodes from multiple podcasts
  • Episodes automatically delete after finishing
  • Download-based, not streaming
  • Plays audio files in itself, doesn't open up another program

Programs I've already tried:

  • gpodder
  • Kasts
  • Clemetine
  • VLC

I'm on Mint so no Gnome for me

You can still install gnome software and run it on mint, unless you meant that comment as a hard preference. I think gnome podcasts should have all your features except playlists.

Otherwise Rhythmbox can also subscribe to podcasts and I think you can add them to playlists.

Oh interesting, I figured because Mint uses cinnamon and it wasn't in the software manager it wouldn't be compatible, thanks!

This might blow your mind but you can have whatever desktop environments installed simultaneously, alongside as many window managers as you like, and choose which to use at each login or even switch to them live with some caviets.
