Never as cheap as a piece of crappy wire though. I agree they're the best, but they cost more. Especially when realistically you already have all the pots/pans you'd need for resistive, but will likely need to buy new ones for inductive.
I mean if you have relativel okay quality pots and pans (not the cheapest stuff) and they are not 30+ years old they should mostly just work. My parents changed to induction over 15 years ago and we only had to switch out a couple pans. Most pf the pots were fine to stay.
