you have to have empathy for yourself, or you will go insane. the correct move is to not play or further interact with someone who isn't reciprocating your efforts, because if you continue to do that, that will be the entire relationship, if one does develop. and you will end up in a relationship where you are miserable, constantly having to prove yourself to someone who doesn't really give a shit about you other than when you are putting 120% into things.

people who will reciprocate do exist, but they are just going to be rare. for every dozen matches I get, maybe one person results in a decent convo and a maybe a in person date. and of those dates, maybe 1 in 10 will be any mutual attraction, but evne if there is that often we are not compatible.

so it goes. some folks do get lucky, others spend their lifetimes dating and finding nobody. my sister's friend is 55 and got engaged for the first time in her life, but even then she is having struggles/doubts with her partner because he doesn't ever go to social events with her.
