I never understood this need to be a child accompanied by their parent. Like jfc grow some autonomy. Its a fucking doctors office, just go! They aren't gonna hurt you.
Like I get being close to ones parents but every time I see a meme about specifically this I just cannot relate. Don't get me wrong I love mine but never once have I begged them to come to the doctor with me or plan the appt for me.
It just screams "I want to be a child forever, growing up scawy"
My kids are in their early 20s, I’ve always been on it about raising adults not raising kids so they’re pretty independent. If I knew my child had an actually scary appointment, especially if they didn’t have a significant other, I’d offer to go with them even if it was just to sit in the waiting room while they actually saw the doctor. I think there are times it makes sense, they’re still my kids, I still love and support them and they do consider me a foundational and grounding presence in their lives but I see too many people going so far into the deep end like you’re describing. So many parents aren’t raising adults though, they never teach independence and punish autonomy then their kids end up socially stunted.
The only time I would want my mother present is if I'm going under anaesthetic or being given some drugs, and won't be able to drive home.
Minors need parental consent for some stuff, but are adults really doing this?
