[–] IllNess@infosec.pub 63 points 3 months ago (20 children) Running out of ideas and the flow of users are slowing down. permalink fedilink source hideshow 20 child comments replies: [–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 30 points 3 months ago (19 children) The place quickly turned into a silo of hand grenade throwing echo chambers. Some hilarious takes by people who have completely lost touch of reality. At least with us, you can chose the tech and put it up yourself. Like right now you are using slrpnk.net and im using piefed.social on a lemmy.world server. Without any issues. We (the collective WE) made this happen without huge billionaires having a strangle hold on the way we interact. Its not perfect, but its better than a LOT of the alternatives. permalink fedilink source parent [–] chortle_tortle@mander.xyz 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) I think to whatever degree innate tribalism of humans play roles in internet communities, federated servers is still the best way to reflect the good and hinder the bad. Migratory identity would take activity pub a long way in making federation better, but even without it activity pub shows bluesky to be a monolithic platform with a federated coat of paint. permalink fedilink source parent [–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 1 point 3 months ago Ya, you are not wrong there. It's been a mixed bag at times but YPTB been good proof of this place goin downhill too. Basically no social media is safe. permalink fedilink source parent [–] redditmademedoit@piefed.zip 0 points 3 months ago (5 children) You’re not wrong, but a difference is that most lemmings don’t really want to be here, i.e are in exile and pretty up front about that. I’m not saying it isn’t an echo chamber, but it’s a much messier one than Bluesky. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 5 child comments replies: [–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 11 points 3 months ago (4 children) Really? My main complaint isn’t that I’m here, it’s that I wish more people were here. Maybe in a few years there will be better integration with other ActivityPub platforms. It’s already loads better than when I first came over in 2023. permalink fedilink source parent [–] redditmademedoit@piefed.zip 1 point 2 months ago (1 child) Maybe I should have worded it differently. I’d wager that Lemmy, as is, is very few Lemmy users’ ideal platform, mainly because it’s very small. For instance, while it is a filter bubble of sorts, the small user base makes it hard to filter content to your preference. It’s more or less a take it or leave it proposition. May I’m projecting, but at least I’m here seeking refuge from algorithmic enshitification, not necessarily the mixture of Linux memes and random politics I’m getting. Not saying I hate it – many things I’m very fond of – just that it’s not all that I want in a platform (as is). permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 1 point 2 months ago I see. To me the non federated part of bluesky is kind of what makes me consider it a time bomb.
