Same with the first ship fight. It says destroy the engines but you can't target them, you just have to kill the ship.
To add, I've been messing with outpost building and having questions. All the guides are basically "here's the tutorial, when we figure more out, we'll update here". Kinda frustrating, that isn't a guide. Lol
