I pirate tons of crap but there's nothing more obnoxious than a pirate trying to convince themselves and others they're somehow morally superior for doing so. "Piracy actually helps the industry" type cope. If you can't download a game without shutting the fuck up about it, crime isn't for you.

something about this new wave of 20 year olds on the internet is more open and confrontational than the previous generation.

we browsed in secret and kept our stuff private. these kids are loud mouths and brag about everything.

Bragging and being generally a prick about it is what will give the attention to it necessary to justify invasive government policies to stifle it.

In other words shut the fuck up before you draw attention.

E: I don't mean you I mean the person in the story

I've never played Hogwarts Legacy, because ew. But if I met one person who played the game after getting it for free on Epic, and one person who played the game after pirating it, I would respect the pirate more. I've heard rumours that when you claim a free game on Epic, the devs get a payout from Tim. So I didn't claim it the two times it was free, and I respect someone more if they never give Rowling a single penny.

the point is that pirates are bragging about pirating stuff. and not being quiet about it.
