[–] MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz 20 points 3 months ago (5 children) Guessing it helped that it's not a Switch 2 exclusive. permalink fedilink source hideshow 10 child comments replies: [–] hushable@lemmy.world 16 points 3 months ago I audibly gasped when the trailer announced it will come out on the Switch 1. Got it on day one permalink fedilink source parent [–] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago (1 child) I mean duh, a game sells better when it‘s released on more platforms but I was shocked when I read the Switch 2 sold nearly 20 million units already. It has a better run than the Switch 1 in it‘s first year. People are buying it like sliced bread and the price increase makes total sense. Funny thing though the average Switch 2 owner only bought 2 1/2 games for the console and many retailers are putting heavy discounts on them. The Switch 2 is a triumph for Nintendo but a net loss of retailers if we go by the current numbers. All that being said it horrifies me what Nintendo will learn from all this. Their fans who spend so much money so carelessly on hardware are ruining the company for me. It will rain rereleases, remasters and remakes on the platform and I couldn‘t care less about any of those. Nintendo is at their best when they innovate but they don‘t have any reason to atm. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago People were happy to pay scalpers double the retail price for a Switch 1 so of course Nintendo wouldn’t leave money on the table to the scalpers this time around. And the fomo fans proved them right. permalink fedilink source parent [–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago 40% sales still came from Switch 2, but you are right, without Switch 1 it wouldn't have reached such sales so soon. permalink fedilink source parent [–] anna@retrofed.com 2 points 3 months ago (1 child) Is the game different on Switch 2 or is it the exact same game? I've been holding off on getting it for the original Switch because I wasn't sure if I was going to miss out on better performance, customisation options, online features or whatnot. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz 6 points 3 months ago AFAIK there is no Switch 2 version? It's just running it as a switch 1 game. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 months ago* Oooo I wonder if I can play it on the computer… Edit: yes indeed! I think my partner wants to try it, so that’s great news! permalink fedilink source parent
