Sometimes a person just gets tired of sourcing the perfect keycaps for a weird ass keyboard, LOL. both "SYS" keys are dedicated spaces, and "Fn" and the Right Alt are set up with "hold-tap" so if they're simply pressed and released, they are spaces as well, leaving me 5"u" of spacebar goodness.
A family member of mine does mechanical keyboards— I don’t understand how ya’ll are able to memorize new layouts so quickly regardless of key caps! Someone should do some research on you guys.
I'm in the baby-pool over here. Almost everything I do is fairly close to standard, and I prefer mnemonics for the ones that don't match their keycaps' legends. This set didn't have a single-key enter or numpad "+," but an arrow pointed in the same direction as Enter keys helps, and "PN" can be "plus number" in my brain. Even with "SYS," I was very happy to get those "s" sounds for my spaces. I only have one extra layer, and again I went with mnemonics for the most part over locations. Fn+I is insert and Fn+P is Print Screen, although that did necessitate Fn+B as Pause/Break, LOL, but who actually uses Pause/Break?
